Saturday Morning

Circle K Ride

The regular Saturday training ride (sometimes called the "Circle-K Ride") starts at 7:30 AM from the Shell station convenience store (formerly a Circle-K market) at 2640 N. Santiago Blvd. in Orange. The ride is a moderate to fast paced group training ride covering 45 to 56 miles. Non members are welcome, but helmets are required.

Tuesday Evening

El Dorado Park Race / Crit.

This is a good addition to your training rides. There is a very nice race series that runs from the second week in March to the last week in September. This is put on by California Bicycle Racing (CBR)

Thursday Evening

The Bully Ride

Bull Dog The regular Thursday training ride (aka "The Bully Ride") starts at 4 PM from the Aaron Brothers Artmart (5640 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, CA) where Imperial Hwy. crosses the Santa Ana River. The ride follows the river trail bike path to the beach and back, 42 miles roundtrip. It begins moderately but becomes race-pace approximately 5-10 miles out. Ride regroups for the return, usually at a moderate pace, arriving back around sunset. Non-members and slower riders are welcome but no mercy should be expected once the speed picks up! Helmets are required. This is a seasonal ride and participation varies with the daylight hours.

Sunday Morning

Carl's Coffee Crew

Bull Dog Flat 50 mile "friendly ride". This ride is the antidote to the club's Bully Ride. Friendly is not so much a pace (slow or fast) but more of an attitude. It says we're more into safety than tactics. We're more likely to wait and regroup than attack, divide and conquer. So expect a good work out at a socially determined pace with some regrouping and lots of consideration for safety. This ride is open to members and invited guests. The route involves the Santa Ana River Trail and coffee or breakfast at the pier in Huntington Beach. If you have to ask for more detail (start time and location), you haven't been invited yet. If you're a member and just forgetful, write to info@canyonvelo.org for a reminder.

Como Street

If we are not at a race on Sunday, you may catch some of us at the Como Street ride in Irvine CA. Como Street has two start times. Both rides start from the Tustin Ranch Market Place near the intersection of Jamboree Rd. and Bryan Ave. The original Como Street start time is 8:30 AM. This is for the younger, faster, more experienced riders who were up late Saturday night, but can still ride hard. "Old Man Como" start time is 8:00 AM. This ride is a little more civilized for newer riders and older riders who like to regroup at the top of hills, but still beat up on each other through the flats and climbs.
